Carol Day Dating Service

Figuring out the exact date a Carol Day episode was published has been notoriously difficult and tedious over the years, what with newspaper strikes and holiday suspensions of publication. However, thanks to the great work of Lee Harmon we now have a run of the Daily Mail, Carol Day's paper of record, that allows us to date the strips quickly and easily. So although we're not arranging Friday evening dates with Miss Day, we can help you pin down the details on the art you own.

If you have a Carol Day original and would like to know the date it was published, click here to send us an email with the strip number. We will be back to you with the date of publication and a very low resolution image of the Daily Mail page it appeared on to give you context. No charge, but we do ask that you limit your requests.

Story Guide

The Daily Mail titled the stories beginning with strip #211, in the middle of Paris Episode, and stopped after The Prophet, which ended with strip 1809. For stories that were untitled, we have used the name of the main character as the title, rather than try to invent something in the spirit of the editorially provided titles. In cases where we have supplied the title, it is in [ALL CAPS]. The Daily Mail and News Chronicle merged on October 18, 1960.

At the end of the story, David Wright will be back with a new adventure.
