Last of the Line was the first of two stories featuring Oswald Patcham, one in the long line of David Wright's characters with serious psychological problems. Though many of the characters in Carol Day stories are based on identifiable people from David Wright's life, Oswald seems to be a completely fictional character, according to Patrick Wright.
